GT Squad 2026

Gujarat Titans (GT) enter the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) with a balanced and reliable lineup, which features experienced core players who have helped the franchise win the Indian Premier League, and major roster building from the late-2024 Mega Auction. The team, captained by Shubman Gill, with Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki, head coach Ashish Nehra, and batting coach Matthew Hayden leading the team, is considered by many analysts as one of the best in IPL 19.

Under the leadership of skipper Shubman Gill, the Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki, and the head coach Ashish Nehra, the team is ranked among the strongest in IPL 2026 by many analysts. Below is the detailed analysis of the Gujarat Titans squad for 2026, auction history, and expectations from the team.

Gujarat Titans IPL Journey and Performance History

Since debuting in the IPL in 2022, Gujarat Titans have consistently performed well. Under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, they clinched victory in their inaugural season with Mohammed Shami’s 20 wickets, forming a formidable bowling attack. From there, they went on to finish runners-up in 2023 with Pandya at the helm, and then were captained by Shubman Gill from 2024 onwards. His debut season is a poor 8th, but the side has had a sensational 2025, reaching the eliminator stage against Mumbai Indians. Sai Sudharsan was the top with-the-bat batsman that season, scoring 759 runs, and Prasidh Krishna was the leading wicket-taker, with 25 scalps across the competition, the highest number by any bowler in the year.

The auction that took place at the end of 2025 before the 2026 season was called a Mini Auction, which is only used for a handful of minor depth players. The late-2024 Mega Auction was the team-building event where the franchise actually locked up, kept, and invested in this successful team of performers.

Gujarat Titans Retained Squad 2026

Gujarat Titans had a stable side of 20 retained players for the upcoming IPL 2026 mini auction, which indicates the confidence the management has in the squad that took them to the end of the previous season. Captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Prasidh Krishna, Sai Kishore, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Ishant Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Manav Suthar, Kumar Kushagra, Anuj Rawat, Gurnoor Brar, Arshad Khan and Nishant Sindhu have been retained in the team.

The foreign components hired for 2026 are a strong one. Rashid Khan is the spin spearhead of the Afghanistan team, Kagiso Rabada is the fireballer in the fast-bowling department and New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips brings explosive firepower and brilliant fielding to the middle order, with Jos Buttler retaining his place in the wicketkeeping department. The side boasts a nucleus of quality players, a good bowling unit and true depth in both departments—a formula that has proved to be effective for the franchise since 2022.

Gujarat Titans Mini-Auction (IPL 2026): New Players and Signings

Gujarat Titans, with their core already established, opted to fill out a few gaps during the mini-auction organised at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on 16 December. They had five new players to take to the new day.

Jason Holder (West Indies) – INR 7 crore. Holder is undoubtedly one of the costliest acquisitions of the Titans and has proven to be a complete player, having taken 433 international wickets in all formats for the West Indies since his debut in 2013.

Played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, where he managed to pick up 70 wickets across 57 matches with an economy of 8.58. In his T20 career, he has also managed to bag 440+ T20 wickets and has scored more than 3,000 runs to make GT a big-match bat-and-bowler.

Tom Banton (England) – INR 2 crore. Banton, who also played for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2020, is returning to the IPL after being named as a wicketkeeper-batter with the ability to hit the ball with aggressive power. He has scored over 5,500 runs across 32 half-centuries and four T20 centuries in his career.

After undergoing surgery on his severely damaged finger, he was ruled out for the whole season of IPL 2026 and has not played a game. Connor Esterhuizen has become the official replacement for the Gujarat Titans, with South Africa for the team for INR 75 Lakh.

Ashok Sharma (India) – Ashok Sharma of India bid INR 90 lakh. The 24-year-old right-arm pacer from Rajasthan is in excellent domestic form, having picked up 22 wickets in 10 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with an average of 15.63, and has been the top wicket-taker. The man, who is known for his ability to bowl above the speed of 140 kmph, was also signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 (though he did not play a match), having previously served as a Rajasthan Royals net bowler before playing for them in 2025, and before moving to the Gujarat Titans for the 2026 season.

Luke Wood (England) – INR 75 lakh. Wood brings a variety to the attack and can be a new-ball option for the team who can also bowl in the death overs.

Prithvi Raj Yarra (India) – The bid for Prithvi Raj Yarra (India) is INR 30 Lakh. Yarra is an experienced domestic left-arm fast bowler who previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, and though he fits the profile of domestic pace talent that GT targets, he was unfortunately ruled out for the entire IPL 2026 season due to an injury, with Kulwant Khejroliya named as his official replacement.

GT Squad 2026: Bowling Strength and Batting Depth

Gujarat Titans’ 2026 squad has filled in a few of the gaps that were prevalent in their previous seasons. The pace attack is now more potent with Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj to strengthen the bowling line-up in the new ball. The team acquires pace options and depth of bowlers with Prasidh Krishna, new signing Jason Holder, Luke Wood and Ashok Sharma.

Connor Esterhuizen has been introduced in the middle order and as a backup wicketkeeper and he is the rookie replacement who will add weight to a strong top order, which is complemented by Jos Buttler. Then there is the versatility of Jason Holder, which gives an extra dimension to the lower order and mid-order, where Gujarat had some problems last season.

This team also has a lot of depth at home. Gujarat have Manav Suthar, Kumar Kushagra, Anuj Rawat, Nishant Sindhu and Arshad Khan to make different variations of playing 11 in the tournament based on different venues and conditions.

GT Squad 2026: Captain, Head Coach and Leadership Team

The team is still being managed on the field by Shubman Gill while Vikram Solanki is directing cricket operations as Director of Cricket and Ashish Nehra is the head coach (from 2022 onwards). Nehra’s tenure as coach in the four seasons has been one of the more consistent ones in the history of the IPL, from winning the title, to finishing as runner-up, to a mediocre season and a subsequent resurgence.

Gujarat Titans IPL 2026: Team Strengths and Title Chances

With a title already to their name and back-to-back competitive campaigns since, Gujarat Titans go into the 2026 season as one of the favourites. The mixture of experience and fresh energy has been created in Holder, Banton, Wood, Ashok Sharma and Yarra, with a well-established middle order bolstered by some targeted auctions. The retained top order of Gill, Sudharsan and Buttler and their enhanced bowling attack look like they will have a chance to grab a second IPL championship in 2026.
