Born and raised in the small ski town of Taos, New Mexico, Hunter played D1 tennis on scholarship at SMU in Dallas, TX. Alongside his twin brother Yates, they became the winningest doubles team in school history, reaching a career-high of #15 nationally in doubles and #30 in singles.
After graduating, Hunter devoted 4 full years to the Tennis Pro Tour, earning 14 professional titles — including 13 ITF Futures and 1 ATP Challenger. Highlights include victories over Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime, and the honour of practising alongside Roger Federer. He reached a career-high ATP Doubles ranking of #198 in the world.
At the end of 2021, Hunter and Yates became among the first active pro tennis players to transition full-time to Professional Pickleball. The move paid off — Hunter quickly rose to become the 2nd best pickleball player in the world in DUPR singles rankings and currently holds Singles #1.
He finished 4th in singles at nationals two years in a row and has been drafted in the MLP Premier division with the Atlanta Bouncers, and is currently with the LA Mad Drops. Hunter continues his journey toward becoming the undisputed #1 pickleball player in the world.
